Disinfectant Wipes

Cold Packs

Sometimes ice isn't available.  Instant cold packs are the next best thing so you can apply cold therapy to a swollen lip, smashed thumb or an area that has inflammation.  They have a long shelf life and are easy to use.  The liquid inside the cold pack is water. In the water is other plastic bag or tube containing ammonium-nitrate beads. When you firmly squeeze the cold pack, it breaks the tube so that the water mixes with the beads. This compound creates an endothermic reaction -- it absorbs heat. The temperature of the explication falls to about 35 F for 10 to 15 minutes.
